Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag-led Gujarat Giants will take on India Capital on September 17 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata to kick start the second edition of the Legends League Cricket, featuring retired cricketers. Notably, India Capitals will be led by former Indian batter Gautam Gambhir.
The organisers of the Legends League Cricket announced its itinerary for the second edition which notified about Gujarat Giants versus India Capitals as an opener followed by match against Harbhajan Singh’s Manipal Tigers up against Irfan Pathan-led Bhilwara Kings on September 18. Legends League cricket will feature 12 matches between four teams which will take place at five venues. Kolkata, Lucknow, New Delhi, Cuttack, and Jodhpur are identified as the five venues for the tournament.
As per the notification by LLC, all the four teams will be playing twice against each other during the 12-match league stage. There will also be four rest days in between matches to provide much-needed breather for retired cricketers. The top teams at the end of the league stage will play in the Qualifier at the Barkatullah Khan Stadium in Jodhpur on October 2 with the winner directly advancing to the final to be played on October 5. However, loser of the Qualifier will get another chance as the side will clash with the third-place team on October 3 to clinch a place in the final.
The team that finishes fourth after the league stage will be eliminated. Indian cricket fans will witness some mouth-watering clash between top-players like Chris Gayle, Harbhajan Singh, Mitchell Johnson, Virendra Sehwag, Shane Watson, Muttiah Muralitharan among others. As per the notification all the matches are scheduled at 7:30 PM except India Capitals vs Gujarat Giants match in New Delhi on September 25 which will start a 4 PM along with the Qualifier 1 which is scheduled to start early.
