Seven-time Formula 1 world champion, Lewis Hamilton in a shocking move, signed with Ferrari for 2025 season. The British has made a sudden switch from Mercedes to Ferrari next year in a multi-year deal, details of which are yet to be revealed. The move took place on Thursday, February 1.

The veteran driver who has been with the Silver Arrows since 2013, called this move “one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make.” Moreover, the Scuderia Ferrari took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm this update writing, “Scuderia Ferrari is pleased to announce that Lewis Hamilton will be joining the team in 2025, on a multi-year contract.”

It is to be noted that Hamilton’ s decision comes after two challenging seasons for the Brackley squad, who have struggled to perform with Red Bull coming out on top and winning the title in consecutive years.

Hamilton responds to Ferrari switch

The 39-year-old, who committed to Mercedes last summer, signing a new deal which would keep him with the side through 2025 will replace Carlos Sainz in the Ferrari colours. Speaking after the new deal, Hamilton said, “I have had an amazing 11 years with this team (Mercedes) and I’m so proud of what we have achieved together.”

“Mercedes has been part of my life since I was 13 years old. It’s a place where I have grown up, so making the decision to leave was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make,” the British racer was quoted by F1.

“But the time is right for me to take this step and I’m excited to be taking on a new challenge. I will be forever grateful for the incredible support of my Mercedes family, especially Toto for hi friendship and leadership and I want to finish on a high together. I am 100% committed to delivering the best performance I can this season and making my last year with the Silver Arrows, one to remember,” he concluded.
