Football great Lionel Messi confronted rival player Cesar Araujo inside the tunnel during an Inter Miami’s Leagues Cup match on August 3, Thursday. In the match, Messi’s team locked horns with Orlando City in an epic Round of 32 at DRV PNK Stadium in Florida, USA. The nail-biting thriller saw Messi’s remarkable form as he scored his fifth goal in the three games of his Major League team. Meanwhile, the Argentine forward engaged in a heated altercation with his rival player, on the field as well as during halftime. 

During the first half of the game, Messi ran over Araujo while competing for possession of the ball. Meanwhile, Araujo tackled Messi after the ball was released and chased him down while pushing the World Cup winner. Messi, in return, waved to the referee to show a yellow card.

Later inside the tunnel, Messi was seen engaging in a fiery confrontation with his opponents. The video of the heated verbal exchange between both sides has been doing rounds on social media, where the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner could be seen engaging in a verbal altercation with the players of the opposite side.

In the game, Messi opened his side’s account by scoring a goal seven minutes into the game. Meanwhile, Orlando’s Uruguayan midfielder Cesar Araujo equalised for his side in the 17th minute of the game, with Josef Martinez restoring Inter Miami’s lead in the second half.

Messi’s display of brilliance by scoring two goals in the game led Inter Miami to a 3-1 victory over Orlando City. With this win, they have secured a spot in the round-of-16 clash against FC Dallas in Frisco, Texas.
