Australian opener David Warner who played his final international game on Australian soil won Player of the Series award for his terrific form with the bat and while doing so he also went onto complete 3000 runs in his T20I career, while playing the 3rd T20I against West Indies in Perth.

Virat Kohli was the first player and continues to be the joint-fastest to reach 3000 runs in T20Is. He reached this milestone while playing against England in Ahmedabad in March 2021.

Martin Guptill became the second player to reach 3000 runs in T20Is. He achieved this feat in 2021 T20 World Cup while playing against Scotland in Dubai.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was the third player to reach the milestone of completing 3000 runs in T20I cricket. He also achieved this feat while playing against Namibia in the 2021 T20 World Cup in Dubai.

Paul Stirling was the slowest to reach the milestone of 3000 runs in T20Is. He was the fourth player to complete 3000 runs in T20Is overall. He achieved this feat in August 2022 while playing against Afghanistan.

Babar Azam holds the record for being the joint-fastest to complete 3000 runs in T20Is along with Virat Kohli from just 81 innings. He achieved this feat in September 2022 while playing England in Lahore.

Aaron Finch reached the milestone of completing 3000 T20I runs in just 98 innings. He achieved this feat while playing against England in Perth in October 2022.

  • Paul Stirling - 3361 (129 inns)
  • Martin Guptill - 3170 (102 inns)

From the above list we can see that Warner has surpassed Finch for scoring most runs as an opening batsman in men's T20I. Thus, Warner holds the record for having most runs as an opener for Australia in men's T20I.

Warner also became fifth batsman to complete 12000 runs in T20 cricket overall.
