Litton Das, the opening batter for the Bangladesh cricket team, will not be travelling to Sri Lanka with the Bangladesh squad for the Asia Cup 2023, which is a major loss for the team. Due to a fever, Litton Das will miss the flight. Young pacer Tanjim Hasan Sakib will also miss the flight, along with Litton Das, who was brought in to take the role of Ebadot Hossain.
Jalal Younus, the head of the Cricket Operations Committee for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), told the media that Das had tested negative for dengue fever and would miss the flight.
Younus confirmed that Litton has a fever but has cleared his dengue test. He will therefore board the following flight to Sri Lanka if he gets well. However, if he does not recover, the board will need to consider an alternative. This will be Bangladesh's third loss, as important players like Ebadot Hossain and Tamim Iqbal are already out with injuries.
Das has been a crucial part of the Tigers' ODI lineup, scoring 2213 runs in 72 games, including five hundreds. Last year, he had outstanding success in the 50-over format, scoring 577 runs at an amazing average of 52.45. If he doesn't recover in time, it may be a serious setback for Bangladesh, given his excellent record. On August 31, Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in a pivotal opening match at Pallekele to begin their Asia Cup 2023 campaign.
