BCCI on Thursday, November 30 announced India squads for South Africa tour. The Men in Blue will travel to the rainbow nation for a multi-format series, including three T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests, starting December 10. While there were some big names that missed a place, including Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, there were some surprise inclusions as well.
Among many of them was the name of Sai Sudharsan. The 22-year-old left-handed batter, who impressed in the IPL for Gujarat Titans, following brilliant run in the domestic circuit, received a maiden call-up on Thursday for the three-match ODI series against South Africa. Although, he is currently playing for Tamil Nadu in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he opened up after getting the maiden India call-up.
“It is a great feeling, and I am a bit lost for words. It is a dream come true for me, but at the same time, this I just the beginning, and there are many areas where I need to improve,” Sai Sudharsan told Sportstar on Thursday.
The young Indian batter, who was acquired by Gujarat Titan for INR 20 Lakh, played a crucial 96-run knock against Chennai Super Kings in the final in IPL 2023. The Tamil Nadu batter also featured for Surrey County Cricket Club in the 2023-24 season, becoming the fourth Indian after Cheteshwar Pujara, Arshdeep Singh and Prithvi Shaw.
