With 15 matches done and dusted in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals are the only two franchises that are still unbeaten in the tournament. While the Shreyas Iyer-led PBKS defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), DC are coming off a comfortable seven-wicket win against Sunrisers Hyderabad. As the tournament progresses, the Punjab-based franchise will next host the Rajasthan Royals (RR) to begin their home season.
Amid the smooth functioning, there has been a new controversy which has engulfed the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) after their eight-wicket drubbing at the hands of PBKS in IPL 2025. New reports have emerged accusing the LSG officials and their owner Sanjiv Goenka of missing the post-match presentation after defeat on Tuesday, April 1. This issue was reported in different ways as no official was present after the conclusion of the match.
LSG reacts after Sanjiv Goenka and other officials miss post-match presentation in Lucknow
If reports are to be believed, one of the sources claimed that an official had to be sent for the presentation despite the franchise owner and other officials in attendance at the stadium. “Mr Goenka was on the field, and there was no such arrangement at all,” an official was quoted by News18. Meanwhile, another source came up with contrasting claims as he said that Sanjiv Goenka’s name was in the list and was cancelled later.
"If that is the case, LSG should have sent one of their franchise officials for the post-match presentation," another source claimed. However, this situation took the internet by storm, an official from the franchise put an end to the speculations and firmly denied any deliberate snub.
As reported by MyKhel, the LSG official stated, “Mr. Sanjiv Goenka was on the field, and there was no such arrangement at all.” He also clarified that the LSG owner does not attend post-match ceremonies, thus adding, “If that’s the case, LSG should have sent one of their franchise officials for the post-match presentation,” highlighting on the breach of protocol.
Speaking of the Rishabh Pant-led LSG, they are placed seventh in the 10-team standings with one win and two losses after three matches. They will next take on the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atay Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday, April 4.
