Liverpool manager, Arne Slot’s stunning start with the club continued as Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah found themselves on the scoresheet in the side’s 3-0 win against rivals, Manchester United. The Erik ten Hag-managed side meanwhile added to their ongoing worries with a thrashing against Liverpool at the Old Trafford in Manchester.
Liverpool dominated the Reds Devils with the visitors taking a lead in the 35th minute through a back-post header from Luis Diaz after United mid-fielder Casemiro had given the ball away. Salah added a third early in the second half to make it three wins out of three for the Slot-managed side, leaving the ten Hag boys frustrated.
The win for Liverpool meant that Slot is the first manager of the club to win his first meeting with United since Bob Paisley in November 1975 and just the second to do so away from home after George Kay in November 1936.
We just have to make it different: United captain Bruno Fernandes after 0-3 loss
The Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes opened up after the loss against Liverpool. He accepted the fault of the team to give goals to the opposition adding that “goals are always self-inflicted”.
“The goals are always self-inflicted. You need to commit a mistake to give them the goal. We don’t need to be pointing fingers at everyone, that won’t help us now,” Bruno Fernandes told Sky Sports. “When you concede a goal you can’t just point at one mistake. We don’t have to look at the past. We just have to make it different. We lost the game, congratulations to Liverpool, they were more clinical. I don’t look at the stats but the game was tight,” Bruno added.
The Manchester United will next take on Southampton on Saturday, September 14 at the St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton, whereas Liverpool, who are second in the Premier League points table, equaling points with Manchester City, will next take on Nottingham in Anfield on September 14.
