India on Sunday, April 28 sealed another quota for upcoming Paris Olympics 2024 . Indian skeet shooter Maheshwari Chauhan sealed India’s 21st shooting quota and the fifth in shotgun events for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Indian shooter finished second in the women’s skeet event at the ISSF Final Olympic Shotgun Qualification Championship in Doha, Qatar. It is to be noted that the Doha meet serves as the final shotgun qualifying event for the Olympic Games, set to be played in July-August 2024. Moreover, the event saw top two eligible shooters in each individual event secure quotas for the upcoming Games.
Speaking of Chauhan, the 27-year-old finished second after Chile’s Francisca Crovetto Chadid. Both secured 54 points, but the Chilean finished on top in the final shoot-off. The Indian also set a new national record in the qualifiers, shooting 121/125 to finish fourth earlier.
With a silver medal finish and an Olympics spot, Maheshwari will now join the likes of Bhowneesh Mendiratta (men’s trap), Rajeshwari Kumari (women’s trap), Raiza Dhillon (women’s skeet) and Anantjeet Singh Naruka (men’s skeet).
