Four-time champions Chennai Super Kings are all set to host the reigning champions, Gujarat Titans at the MA Chidambaram, Chennai in the first qualifier of the IPL 2023. The MS Dhoni-led side defeated Delhi Capitals to secure the second spot in the playoffs and are now looking forward to taking down the defending champions to bag their fifth title. As the Yellow Army gears up for the playoffs for the 12th time in the history of the IPL, their opener Devon Conway praised the team for the effort they have put in the entire season and hailed the CSK skipper, MS Dhoni for his match-finishing skills.
Ahead of IPL 2023 Qualifier 1, the New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter was seen praising MS Dhoni for his skills and declared him the king of finishing the innings. In a video posted by the official handle of the Chennai Super Kings, Conway talked about their win over Delhi Capitals and said that the entire team is super excited for the forthcoming battle. Talking about the batting lineup of the team, the 31-year-old Kiwi praised Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, and Ravindra Jadeja, and singled out MS Dhoni as he said, "Mahi Bhai is obviously king when it comes to finishing."

Speaking about how the season has been for him, he said that he had a good season, and enjoyed his time in CSK. He said, “For me personally it’s been a good IPL, I’m pretty happy with the way things have gone. I can be very grateful that I have shared the opening partnership with Rutu, and I give a lot of credit to him and our partnership. Talking about their partnership, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway have joint third third-highest opening-century partnerships in IPL history.
Notably, MS Dhoni-led CSK, with 17 points from eight wins this season have secured second position in the points table. As they took down the Delhi Capitals by a huge margin of 77 runs on May 20, Saturday, they entered the playoffs of the IPL for a record 12 times. In the first qualifier of the season, they will clash against Gujarat Titans on May 23, Tuesday at the MA Chidambaram, Chennai. The team that wins the Q1 will directly advance to the finals, whereas the team that loses will clash against the winner of the eliminator IPL 2023.
