Notably, one of the questions which grabbed the limelight was when a journalist surprised the Pakistan skipper by putting a question relating to his former PSL franchise Karachi Kings. Babar replied with a witty smile to the journalist, “Mai unka coach thodi na hun. Aap mujhse puch rahe hain? Aaj ke match se baat kare (I'm not their coach. You are asking me? With this reply from Babar Azam, everyone was left laughing. It is to be noted that Babar Azam joined Karachi Kings in 2017 and played six seasons with them, finishing the highest run-scorer in the tournament twice in his time at Kings.

Talking about Peshwar Zalmi’s last game in the Pakistan Super League 2023, the Babar Azam-led side was invited to bat first after losing the toss. The side however, posted 156/8 on the back of a brilliant half-century by the skipper but failed to take the game home as Islamabad United batters Rahmanullah Gurbaz (62 off 31) and Rassie van der Dussen (42 off 29) helped the side to register their second win from three games.
