The former Australian cricketer, Matthew Hayden, was all praises about the batting ability of India’s rising sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal in an exclusive interview. But, at the same time, the 52-year-old also spoke about how Yashasvi Jaiswal will be challenged by the likes of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins during the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test series in Australia.

Notably, India are slated to play Australia in a five-match Test series down under, starting with the first match at the Optus Stadium in Perth from November 22 onwards. The Indians have won the last four BGT Test series against Australia by a 2-1 margin, twice at home and twice in away conditions, which will put them in good stead in the upcoming series.

During his exclusive interview with ESPNcricinfo, Matthew Hayden spoke highly of Yashasvi Jaiswal, the left-handed opening batter for India in Test cricket. He said, “I think he's a package. Yes, his strokeplay is superb. His ability, in particular, to hit on the up through the covers is phenomenal. [But] that'll also have its vulnerabilities.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal will be challenged by three world-class speedsters: Matthew Hayden

“I'm looking forward to seeing how he (Yashasvi Jaiswal) adjusts on bouncy tracks. We did notice a few times in the IPL that he's a very hard hitter of the ball - [with the] pull shots in particular,” he added.

The former ODI World Cup winner also remarked that the Australian fast bowling trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins will pose a stern challenge to Yashasvi Jaiswal down under in their upcoming summer. “He'll be challenged by three world-class speedsters, assuming they're all fit, and on much bigger grounds as well - grounds where it has to almost be the perfect contact for that ball to sail over for six,” Matthew Hayden further mentioned.

“You can get caught easily, three-quarters of the way in the fence. So they have little adjustments that world-class players like (Yashasvi) Jaiswal will make for sure,” he concluded.
