SunRisers Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins heaped praise on his side’s openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma following their commendable victory partnership against Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday at Uppal, Hyderabad. Chasing the respectable score of 166, the duo switched their brutal mode to dismantle the chase in just 9.4 overs.
Following the win, the Orange Army skipper Pat Cummins made a hilarious remark on their alliance stating that maybe they had changed the pitch while chasing the score and appreciated the unbelievable performances. On being asked about the change in surface in the second innings by Sanjay Manjrekar, Cummins replied, “Maybe Travis and Abhishek did. We just let them go, they are two guys who are very positive and I’m a bowler, it is tough for me to give them any input.”
He also lauded his Australian team-mate Travis Head for his continuous brilliant performance over the past two years and said, “He has been like this for two years, he hits the tough areas, hits the middle a lot, might not be super conventional.” Travis Head registered his fourth half-century of this season as he scored an unbeaten 89 off just 30 balls, which consisted of eight boundaries and as many hits over the ropes.
Cummins also took a sharp note on Abhishek’s magical turnaround this season and stated, “Just an incredible player of spin and pace. With just two fielders out, it is really difficult for the bowlers against them. I think the scores have gone up, and when the wickets are good, it is tough to come up with answers against batters when they get going. The boys have had a fantastic season, but to win this with less than 10 overs played is unreal.
SRH chased history books after clinching target in less than 10 overs
The demolition victory took Sunrisers Hyderabad to the history books as the 2016 champions created a world record for conquering the highest target in less than 10 overs in T20 cricket. The Pat Cummins-led side belted the 166 run total in just 9.4 overs, courtesy of the destructive opening stand of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma.
