The Men's Asian Champions Trophy is a men's hockey competition for Asia's top six national teams and it will be held for the seventh time in 2023 at the Asian Hockey Federation's facilities in Chennai's Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium. This year, India will play host to the Champions Trophy for the first time while South Korea are the current champions after winning the 2021 competition in a nail-biting penalty shootout. On the other hand, India and Pakistan are the most successful sides in the tournament as they both have three wins under their belts.
India vs China game is expected to be a thriller as it is the opener for both teams in the tournament. India have not played a professional game since June 11, when they defeated No.8 ranked Argentina 2-1 in the FIH Hockey Pro League. On the other hand, arch-rivals China, who are ranked much below India, at No.25 cannot be taken lightly, as they can trigger an upset on their day if they capitalize on any mistakes made by the Indian team.
