The top six men's national hockey teams in Asia are competing in the Men's Asian Champions Trophy in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The event is being organised by the Asian Hockey Federation. Additionally, the event will be the largest to take place at Chennai's Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium since India's second Asia Cup victory in 2007. However, it is f or the first time ever, India is hosting the Champions Trophy.
Talking about the past edition, the competition in 2021 was won by South Korea in a thrilling penalty shootout, making them the current champion. India and Pakistan each have three victories under their belts.
The Malaysia vs India game is expected to be high scoring one, as both teams have good attackers. This will be India’s third game in the tournament, after they thrashed China 7-2 in their first game and then went on to draw 1-1 against Japan. India look safe at the moment as they are placed second in the table at the moment.
On the other hand, Malaysia, have won both their games and have got a flying start to the tournament. They started off the tournament with a 3-1 victory over Pakistan and then went on to defeat China 1-5 in their second game. Although they are ranked below India in the World Rankings, in the current points table, they are placed right at the top.
