22-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal is well known for his enthusiasm towards football and loyalty to Real Madrid. However, the Spaniard had an unexpected response to the age-old debate of which player is superior, Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.

During his holiday, a few young admirers met Nadal and asked to snap a photo with him in Greece. Later, ‘Messi or Ronaldo?’, one of the fans questioned. In a viral video, Nadal responded, “Messi is better, but I am a Madrid fan!”.

Nadal has interacted with Messi and Ronaldo and has voiced his adoration for both players. While previously owning stock in his native team Mallorca, Nadal was named an honorary member of Real Madrid. Miguel Angel Nadal, his uncle, was a former Barcelona player who participated in Johan Cruyff's 'Dream Team' in the 1990s.

Although not everyone will agree with Nadal's viewpoint on the Messi vs Ronaldo argument, it demonstrates his admiration for both players and their accomplishments. For more than ten years, Messi and Ronaldo have dominated football, taking home several individual and team honours.

Rafa’s Recent Injury Struggles

One of the best tennis players of all time, Nadal has won two Olympic gold medals and 22 Grand Slam championships. Along with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, he formed the "Big Three" in men's tennis. Nadal has recently experienced injury problems, which have caused him to miss Wimbledon and the US Open this year. He also pulled out of the Australian Open in 2023 due to a hip issue that has bothered him for some months.

To continue pursuing more victories and records, Nadal stated he expects to get better quickly and return to the court early in the following season. In the history of men's tennis, he now holds 22 grand slam victories, one fewer than Novak Djokovic. Rafael Nadal who is currently recovering from a left hip flexor injury is enjoying his holidays in Greece.
