The Indian fast bowler, Mohammed Shami, currently sidelined from cricket due to injury, gave his thoughts on Yashasvi Jaiswal’s inconsistent run with Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The 33-year-old remarked that Yashasvi Jaiswal is seemingly in a rush while batting, getting out to a shot which wasn’t required during RR’s recent clash against DC.
In pursuit of a 222-run target against Delhi Capitals, the Rajasthan Royals opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, started the team’s innings with a boundary off the first ball from Khaleel Ahmed, which had struck Jos Buttler at the non-striker’s end before finding the rope. On the next ball, he tried to play it on the up but only managed to toe-end it to the fielder Axar Patel, who had to move a few steps to his left from the mid-off region.
Shami criticises Jaiswal for inconsistent performance
On his YouTube channel, Mohammed Shami alluded to the shot of Yashasvi Jaiswal from the DC versus RR match, and said, “I want to talk about Yashasvi Jaiswal. He seemed to be in a rush. He got a four off the first ball. In two balls he got 4. He seems to be in a hurry. He got out to a shot which was not required. It was not needed. He is in good touch and has scored a ton in the IPL too. He looked out of touch and got out.”
After Yashasvi Jaiswal’s wicket, the Rajasthan Royals captain, Sanju Samson, played one of his better innings in the IPL career, scoring 86 off 46 with eight fours and six maximums, to put his team in a winning position. But following his controversial dismissal, RR lost their way, allowing DC to restrict them to 201/8, suffering a 20-run defeat.
Despite their third loss of the IPL 2024 season, Rajasthan Royals are firmly placed in second position on the points table, while Delhi Capitals moved into fifth position.
