After the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan , the Men in Blue will take on the Three Lions in a five-match Test series at home, starting January 25th. While the Men in Blue are coming off a convincing series draw against South Africa, the England Men locked horns in the white-ball leg against West Indies after their dismal performance at the ODI World Cup 2023 in India.
But ahead of the Test series, reports suggest that star Indian pacer Mohammed Shami will miss two matches from the five-match series. It is being reported that the 33-year-old hasn’t resumed bowling yet after sustaining an injury during the ODI World Cup 2023.
“Shami hasn’t even started to bowl; he will have to go to NCA and prove his fitness. He looks doubtful for the first two Tests against England,” a BCCI source was quoted as saying by the Indian Express. It is to be noted that Shami last featured in the ODI World Cup and hasn’t played since November 19, 2023. The Indian pacer was named in the squad for the two-match Test series against South Africa but was ruled out with the ankle injury.
Speaking of England series, the first Test is scheduled to be played from January 25th to 29th at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, followed by a game each in Visakhapatnam, Rajkot, Ranchi and Dharamsala.
