Moto GP on Friday, September 22, released a statement apologising for broadcasting a distorted map of India during their live telecast of the Indian Oil Grand Prix of India. The race is scheduled to take place at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. MotoGP Bharat rebranded as the IndianOil Grand Prix of India, will be the 13th race of the 2023 season.

The map omitted the union territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. Coming back to the statement released by Moto GP, the motorsports body took note of the Indian map being distorted after a social media user pointed out that the map did not include the previously mentioned Union territories.

In an official statement, MotoGP expressed its regret, saying, “We'd like to apologise to our fans in India for the map shown earlier as part of the MotoGP broadcast. It is never our intent to make any statement other than that of support and appreciation for our host country, We're excited to be able to enjoy the Indian OilGrand Prix of India with you and we're loving our first taste of Buddh International Circuit.”
