Former Chennai Super Kings (CK) skipper MS Dhoni is taking advantage of all given opportunities and proving his role of a finisher. In the IPL 2024 match against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, MS Dhoni took the field after the top order failed to convert after being invited to bat first.

In his outing in the middle, the wicketkeeper-batter scored an unbeaten nine-ball 28, helping CSK post 177-run target for the Lucknow-based franchise. It wasn’t the first time Dhoni remained unbeaten in the middle for CSK. Moreover, the 42-year-old is the only wicketkeeper-batter in IPL 2024 to not get dismissed.

In CSK’s previous match against the Mumbai Indians, the veteran played an unbeaten four-ball 20 cameo, making the difference in CSK’s 20-run win. In his five innings, the keeper-batter has amassed 87 runs, with his highest of unbeaten 37 coming against Delhi Capitals, which came in CSK’s losing cause.

The 42-year-old in the match against L SG also added another feature to his cap with an impressive feat in the IPL 2024. The talisman completed 5000 runs in IPL as wicketkeeper.

MS Dhoni batting like he is 22: Aaron Finch, Ian Bishop left in awe

Aaron Finch and Ian Bishop, who are part of the commentary panel in the ongoing edition of the IPL, were left in awe of the wicketkeeper-batter. Dhoni, who provided another entertaining knock in front of the crowd at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, earned praises from the former cricketers.

The former Aussie captain, who was commentating when Dhoni smashed Yash Thakur for a 101 metre maximum said, “How many times have we seen that swing over the years around the wicket. Straight into his arc, the form that he’ in? He might be 42, but he’s playing like he’s 22. It’s unbelievable striking.”

Not only this Bishop took to X (formerly Twitter) and captioned a post, “MS Dhoni True legend”.
