Mahendra Singh Dhoni is undoubtedly one of those few personalities who have earned a huge fan following across the borders in a very short span of time. India's perennial Jersey Number 7 has changed the dynamics of Indian cricket and it goes without saying that players like him are born once in a generation.
Born to Pan Singh Dhoni and Devaki Dhoni, ‘Captain Cool’ enjoys a fandom like no other, and it wouldn’t be wrong in saying that while other sports personalities have earned fans, Dhoni has devotees. Not only this but there have been times when along with ruling the field, the 7 July-born has been on top of social media charts.
As the legend turns 42, here are seven instances when the 2011 World Cup-winning captain set Twitter trends on fire.

MS Dhoni pushed Candy Crush to Twitter's trending page
Recently, a video surfaced on social media where an air hostess offered Dhoni chocolates while he was travelling with his wife, Sakshi. The former India great was travelling in economy and when offered a tray filled with chocolates, he humbly picked a packet of dates and returned the remaining treats to the air hostess.
However, Dhoni fans are as quick as his stumping and were fast enough to notice that their beloved ‘Thala’ was playing Candy Crush on his iPad. What followed after was totally crazy as Dhoni started trending on Twitter along with Candy Crush, and the parody account of the game, Candy Crush Saga Official, claimed that it got 3.6 million new downloads in three hours.
