The Multan Cricket Stadium echoed with the chants of ‘zimbabar’ and ‘ghante ka king’ as former Pakistan skipper Babar Azam got dismissed after scoring five runs. In the second innings of the Multan Test against England, Aazm continued his horror form and could only come up with five runs. Notably, in the first innings of the series opener, the former skipper could only score 30 runs. Azam has hit a horrible run form in Test cricket as it’s been more than two years since he scored his last fifty in the longest format. 

After Azam got out for five runs in the second innings on Thursday, October 10, fans at the Multan Stadium started chanting ‘zimbabar’ and ‘ghante ka king’. In videos doing rounds on social media, fans were seen trolling Azam with the chants as he walked back to the pavilion. Notably, earlier in the day, Azam had dropped a dolly catch of Joe Root, when he was batting on 186. Root later went on to complete his double century. 

Babar Azam faces heat from fans

Babar Azam has been facing heat from fans as he continues to struggle for runs. While some fans have called for the selectors to drop him from the squad, others have been calling him names. Speaking of the match, Pakistan won the toss and after opting to bat first, the hosts came up with 556 runs in the first innings. Shan Masood, Abdullah Shafique and Saud Shakeel were the three centurions from their side. 

In return, England posted a huge total of 823 runs and took a 267-run lead. Joe Root and Harry Brook came up with double and triple centuries, respectively. By the end of Day 4, Pakistan were at 152-6 and trail England by 115 runs behind.
