Former Pakistani cricketer Mushtaq Ahmed has recently joined Bangladesh cricket team as a spin consultant. The legendary leg spinner from Pakistan was also a part of the team during the 2024 T20 World Cup and Pakistan tour. Now, Mushtaq has become a permanent member of Bangladesh’s coaching staff and will be seen as a spin consultant in a upcoming Test series against South Africa.

Notably, Mushtaq Ahmed couldn’t be a part of Bangladesh team for their recently-concluded tour to India due to commitment issues. However, after his commitments were done, he  expressed his desire to return to the Bangladesh coaching set up. Bangladesh are set to host South Africa for a two-match Test series starting on October 21.

Soon after his return to Bangladesh coaching set up, Mushtaq Ahmed was a part of the intense practice session at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, where the first Test match against South Africa is set to take place. During the practice session, Mushtaq was also involved in long discussions with head coach, Phil Simmons.

"He( Mushtaq) is here for this [South Africa] series. This year, whenever he is available and does not have any prior commitments, he will work series by series with us. Right now, he is here, we'll see what happens in the next series," an official from Bangladesh cricket board was quoted as saying by Crictracker.
