In an exclusive interview, Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah made a revelation that the talks with Liverpool about signing a new contract have stalled in the last few months. The 32-year-old, who is into the final six months of current contract with Liverpool, believes that the ongoing season will be his last with the Merseyside club as of this moment, but at the same time, he hasn’t given final confirmation on the same.
It was during the last match of 2024 for Liverpool, Mohamed Salah found his 20th goal of the ongoing season, to ensure that they got the better of West Ham United with a 5-0 scoreline at the London Stadium. Due to this result, the Merseyside club have consolidated their position in the Premier League standings, finding themselves six points ahead of second placed Arsenal, accumulating 45 points in just 18 matches, which includes just one defeat.
We're far away from any progress, so we just need to wait and see: Mohamed Salah on Liverpool new contract
In his exclusive interview with Sky Sports, when Mohamed Salah was asked about whether the ongoing season with Liverpool is going to be his last, he responded, “So far? Yes.” The Egyptian also discussed the situation regarding his future with the Merseyside club, “Into the last six months, there is no progress there (in terms of signing a new contract), we're far away from any progress, so we just need to wait and see.”
Mohamed Salah detailed his ambition with Liverpool from the start of his season, and remarked, “The first thing that was on the list was to win the Premier League with Liverpool. In my interviews over the last seven or eight years, I always say [I want to win the] Champions League. But this is the first time I'm saying I really want to win the Premier League with Liverpool.”
“I have no idea. It's probably because we didn't celebrate the one we won in the way we wanted and also, coming back here too, it's my last year in the club so you want to do something special for the city. That was the thing in my head,” Mohamed Salah further said.
