Afghanistan crushed the hopes of former champions Australia in the T20 World Cup 2024 after they sealed a win over Bangladesh and entered the semifinals for the first time in the history of the tournament. The Rashid Khan-led side beat Bangladesh by eight runs at the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown, St Vincent on Tuesday, June 25.
After this win, Afghanistan cricketer Najibullah Zadran took to X (formerly Twitter) to troll Australian spearhead Pat Cummins. The Afghan batter prompted a dig at Cummins when asked of the teams to seal semifinals spot. Cummins, at the start of the tournament in an interview with CNBC-TV18 stated that one of the teams is “definitely Australia”, the other three he left open for the journalists to decide.
“Definitely Australia, other three you can choose,” Cummins told when asked of the four semifinals. Taking a dig at these remarks, Zadran wrote, Q: How is the top 4 semifinals? A: definitely Australia other 3 you choose.”
