The Netherlands have announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 in India. The experienced duo of Roelof van der Merwe and Colin Ackermann, who were not part of the historic qualifying run, have been recalled to the squad. The Netherlands secured a spot in this grand event ahead of the two-time champion West Indies earlier this year.

The squad will be led by Scott Edwards, and the Netherlands will be looking to repeat their show in the qualifiers. The Dutch played an entertaining game against the West Indies when they won in the super over. They also knocked out South Africa in the T20 World Cup last year and have shown that they are capable of upsetting the strongest of teams in the upcoming ODI World Cup too. Ackermann was the second leading run-scorer at the 2022 T20 World Cup for the Netherlands, while van der Merwe chipped in with key wickets and important runs.

The Netherlands started their World Cup preparations by practicing in Bangalore, India, as the probables trained there recently before flying back home. The players announced in the World Cup squad will now be flying to India around September 20 to Bangalore, where they will have a camp before the mega event kicks off.

Star batsman Max O’Dowd will be a key player again for Edwards’ side, as he has been carrying the responsibility of getting the team to the desired total, scoring 242 runs at the T20 World Cup (second only to Virat Kohli) and 299 runs at the World Cup qualifiers. Vikramjit Singh and Scott Edwards, who were the top two scorers for the Netherlands, will again look to repeat their heroics.

The Ryan Cook-coached side will play two warm-up fixtures prior to the World Cup against Australia on September 30 and hosts India on October 3. Their first contest at the World Cup will come against Pakistan in Hyderabad on October 6.
