Netizens took to social media to react to South Africa’s three-wicket defeat against Australia in the second semi-final clash of the ODI World Cup 2023. After India registered a 70-run win over New Zealand in the first semi-final clash of the tournament, South Africa took on Australia in the second knock-out clash. Despite maintaining a stronger position throughout the tournament, the Proteas failed to deliver a remarkable performance against the Kangaroos.

South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma won the toss and invited the opponents to field first. Having performed exceptionally well in the entire season, the Proteas were hoping for a favourable day at Eden Gardens. However, Pat Cummins’ side destroyed their batting order, before successfully chasing the 213-run target.
Though the bowling unit performed decently in the second inning, Bavuma and Co. couldn’t restrict their rivals and Kangaroos went on to secure a three-wicket victory to book their spot in the final.
Fans took to Twitter to laud the Proteas for a brilliant season in the World Cup 2023, while others questioned Temba Bavuma's captaincy.
Notably, Australia will now lock horns with the hosts of the season in a highly anticipated final on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
