On September 28, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh. With the announcement, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s omission from the squad became a major talking point, and fans went all guns blazing for dropping the star batter. Notably, India are currently clashing against Bangladesh in the two-match Test series, and after its completion, both sides will be up against each other for three T20I matches.
The T20I series between the neighbouring nations will get underway on October 6, and will come to a conclusion on October 12. While fans were waiting for Gaikwad’s national call-up after his impressive current performance, his omission from the squad sent shockwaves throughout the cricketing fraternity, especially fans. Notably, Gaikwad last appeared for India in the Zimbabwe series, where he amassed 133 runs in just three innings.

Not only this, but the batter is also third-ranked Indian batter and overall ninth-ranked batter in the ICC’s ranking. Moreover, he was also in a terrific form in the Duleep Trophy 2024.
