New York City will reportedly host the marquee clash between neighbour nations India and Pakistan during the T20 World Cup 2024. USA is co-hosting the next edition of the T20 World Cup with the West Indies as the tournament is scheduled to be hosted in June, next year. The entire schedule for the mega spectacle is likely to be announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and local organising bodies on December 15, Friday.

According to reports by The Guardian, the match will be played in a pop-up stadium. A temporary stadium with a seating capacity of 34,000 will be constructed on the outskirts of New York. The reason the clash between arch-rivals will be played in New York is because as per the latest census data, around 7,11,000 Indian and about 1,00,000 Pakistan origin people live in New York.

Not only this, but the reports also suggest that considering the time difference between New Delhi and New York, which is 10-and-half hours, a few Indian matches will be scheduled considering the Indian television audience. While some changes in the schedule are likely to happen, England and Australia will play all their group games in the Caribbean. England’s games in the initial, five-team group and the Super 8 round (subject to qualification) will be in Antigua, Barbados, and St Lucia. All these three places are the British tourist hotspot.

The reports further state that while the venue for the final is not decided yet, it is likely to be played in Barbados, which has previously hosted the 2007 50-over World Cup and the 2010 T20 event finals. Only three venues have been shortlisted for the tournament in America, which are Central Broward Park in Florida, Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas, and Eisenhower Park on Long Island.
