The 64-year-old was promoting the newest initiative of the OTT brand, wherein they have provided free access to all Indian fans to watch the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on their mobile devices.

Disney Plus Hotstar has billed the broadcast of the quadrennial spectacle on their mobile app for Indian fans as “Bas aao, aur free mein dekhte jao (Just come, and keep on watching it for free).” They have also allowed everyone on their mobile devices to access the ODI World Cup 2023 in data-saver mode.
The promotional ad involving Kapil Dev on Disney Plus Hotstar saw the antagonists kidnap the cricketing legend in an erstwhile place, with the police circling them from all sides. When asked about the reason for executing the abduction, one of the antagonists stated that they didn’t want the electricity to be cut in their area during the live broadcast of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

But, in a surprising turn of events, one of the policemen told them that they could watch the ODI World Cup 2023 for free on the Disney Plus Hotstar mobile app, with the option of data saver mode. Hearing that, the antagonists freed Kapil Dev, who then promoted the newest initiative of the OTT brand.
The video from Disney Plus Hotstar on their official Twitter account has gone viral since then, with Indian fans posting mixed reactions to it. Some were happy about the acting of Kapil Dev in the promotional ad, while others felt it wasn’t ideal to have the Indian cricketing legend act in it.

Moreover, the ODI World Cup 2023 will begin on October 5, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, when the defending champions England take on the runners-up New Zealand. For the Indian fans, October 8 is going to be the day when Team India will open their campaign in the quadrennial spectacle against Australia, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
