Last year’s finalist Nick Kyrgios has pulled out of the Wimbledon 2023 with an injury. The Australian tennis star made his decision to pull out of the third Grand Slam of the year on the eve of the tournament, which kick starts on July 3 at the All England Club.

The 28-year-old who missed majority of the 2023 season, announced his decision after sustaining a wrist injury. The Australian tennis ace took to social media to announce his withdrawal, stating, “I’m really sad to say that I have to withdraw from Wimbledon this year. During my comeback, I experienced some pain in my wrist during Mallorca. As a precaution I had it scanned,  and it came back showing a torn ligament in my wrist.”

“I tried everything to be able to play and I am disappointed to say that I just didn’t have enough time to manage it before Wimbledon,” he further continued.

Kyrgios, who was the favourite to win the Wimbledon 2023 title after his hard-fought performance last season, has just played one match after he pulled out of the Australian Open earlier this year  with a knee injury. The 28-year-old also missed the French Open last month and will now miss the third of the four Grand Slams.

The 28-year-old was set to play David Goffin in the Round of 128 on July 3, but will now miss the tournament after suffering an injury.
