April 1, 2025 went down as a historic day in the history of the NBA. Golden State Warriors' legend Stephen Curry and Denver Nuggets’ mainstay Nikola Jokic put up unprecedented performances to break into the record books. Curry chipped in with 52 points in Warriors’ 134-125 win over Memphis Grizzlies while Jokic’s 61 points couldn’t help Nuggets walk back victorious against Minnesota Timberwolves at Ball Arena. The Nuggets registered scores of 139-140 against the Timberwolves.
Curry looked remarkable in the contest, striking 12-of-20 beyond the arc. He finished only two triples away from equalling the single-game record owned by his former teammate Klay Thompson. He also became the third player ever to register at least 50 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and five steals in a single match, helping him join Ricky Barry and Anthony Davis in that elite club. Jokic’s 61 points also assisted him achieve his career best score. The 30-year-old's sensational display in the game has become the best performance of the ongoing season. The NBA confirmed that it was the first instance in the history of the league that two MVPs notched up 50 or more points on the same date.
Curry becomes oldest player to average 20+ points in a calendar month since Michael Jordan
At the age of 37, Curry concluded the month of March with the average of 23.8 per match, which makes him the oldest player to notch up 20-plus points in a calendar month after the basketball icon Michael Jordan. He also created another feat as the oldest guard in NBA history to pull off this for a whole month.
With their win against the Grizzlies, Warriors are now sitting in the fifth position on the Western Conference points table with a record of 44-31. On the other hand, the Nuggets are now pushed to the third spot in the same conference’s points tally with a feat of 47-29.
