Ruben Amorim, the Sporting CP boss addressed speculations of him joining Manchester United but denied the final decision. The internet has been buzzing with speculations that Amorim will join Manchester United as their new manager. Sporting CP also announced on Tuesday that the club is all set to pay Amorim a 10-million release clause, which further fuelled rumours after the club sacked Erik ten Hag

For the unversed, United, currently grabbing the 14th spot in the Premier League, recently parted ways with Ten Hag. The club seemingly wants Amorim to shoulder the responsibility in time before their upcoming clash against Chelsea. However, the 39-year-old refrained from making any statement and said, "I have nothing to say now.” During Sporting's 3-1 win over Nacional in the Portuguese League Cup quarterfinals, he added, "Anything I say will only create more noise. We're analysing here. For now, there's nothing to talk about."

Who is Ruben Amorim? Sporting Lisbon manager in talks to become Manchester United boss

Ruben Amorim is currently the head coach of Sporting Lisbon in Portugal. He has connections in Manchester United following his managerial internship at the club during Jose Mourinho’s managerial tenure. The 39-year-old is a former Benfica star and played majority of his club football in Portugal before he called it quits and switched to managerial role in 2018. Amorim earned a total of 14 caps for Portugal and was part of the 2010 and 2014 World Cup squads.

He led Sporting to its first Primeira Liga title in 19 years in 2001 as well as another title last season. Heaping praise on Amorim, Bruno Fernandes said, "Since Mr. Amorim arrived at Sporting, it has been one of the teams to play the best football. Sporting went 20 years without winning championships, and Amorim arrived and has already won two."
