Moreover, with his domination as the top ranked player, he has now surpassed Roger Federer’s record at the age of 36 years and 321 days. As he began his 419th week at the helm, he is 109 weeks ahead of Federer in the rankings.
The 36-year-old Serb since turning 30 on May 22, 2017 has amassed 31 tour level titles, including 12 of his 24 Grand Slam titles, 10 ATP Masters 1000 victories out of 40 and two ATP Finals win out of seven of them.
Jannik Sinner becomes first Italian to reach World No. 2 since 1973
Italy’s young star Jannik Sinner clinched the Miami Open title on Monday, April 1. The 22-year-old beat Grigor Dimitrov with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-1 in just 73 minutes to clinch the title in his third attempt. With this win, Sinner claimed his third title of the year, following his win in Melbourne and Rotterdam.
With his win at the Miami Open, Sinner displaced Carlos Alcaraz in the ATP Rankings. He became the first Italian to achieve this ranking since 1973. Also, Sinner joins Roger Federer (2017) as the only me to win both in Melbourne and Florida in a single calendar year.
