Damian Lillard is part of a prolonged and frustrating swap deadlock this summer. The point guard wants to trade out of the Portland Trail Blazers - that much is clear, but his would-be new home at the Miami Heat is having a tough time sorting the deal. The Heat want to trade Lillard for Tyler Herro and a number of draft picks in the future, but Portland is hesitant to take Herro. This means that a third team has to be involved for a potential swap, and things seem to have reached a deadlock. Lillard, for his part, is certainly not helping calm the rumor mill around this deal in the media. The 33-year-old recently posted what appears to be a verse on his Instagram. While some fans speculate that it is a bar from his new album, others said that the lyrics are actually in reference to his career in the NBA and his impending move from the Trail Blazers.
The caption is a verse that talks about being patient, knowing what you want to achieve and steadily making your way towards a goal. While it certainly does mirror Lillard’s situation in the sense that the point guard waited and patiently tried to win a ring with the Trail Blazers and now has to move to another team to achieve his goal (have it all align), it could also reference Lillard’s basketball and NBA ambitions.
