The Indian cricket team was in top form when they toured Sri Lanka for all-format series in 2017. Led by Virat Kohli, India steamrolled the hosts Sri Lanka by winning each and every match on that tour including Tests, ODIs and T20Is. The Men in Blue finished the 9-0 clean sweep against the hosts, including three Tests, five ODIs and one T20I.

The tour started with a three match Test series where India dominated with both bat and ball to won the series by 3-0. Shikhar Dhawan was awarded player of the series for scoring 358 runs in three matches. After that, India went on to win the five-match ODI series by 5-0, where Jasprit Bumrah shone with the ball with 15 wickets to take the player of the series award. Skipper Virat Kohli led from the front by becoming the highest run scorer of the series with 330 runs in five matches.

India ended tour memorable Sri Lanka tour with a win in one-off T20I

Sri Lanka and India were set to face each other in a one-off T20I in Colombo on September 6, 2017. After a whitewash in Tests and ODIs respectively, India were now aiming to completely sweep Sri Lanka at their own backyard. The Men in Blue continued their dominance even in the shortest format and ended up registering a historic 9-0 whitewash. 

Batting first, Sri Lanka posted 170/7 in their 20 overs with Dilshan Munaweera top scoring with 53(29), hitting five fours and four sixes. In reply, Indian skipper Virat Kohli played a captain’s knock of 82(54) runs with the help of seven fours and a maximum. He got a support from Manish Pandey who remained unbeaten on 51 runs off 36 balls with four fours and one six as India chased the winning target in 19.2 overs losing three wickets to give a winning end to a historic tour.
