Two of the greatest players of their time, Sachin Tendulkar and Waqar Younis made their Test debut in the same match as India and Pakistan locked horns during a Test in Karachi on November 15, 1989. The 16-year-old started his glorious career of 24 years for the Indian cricket team 35 years ago today. On the other hand, Younis was also 18 years old when he made his Test debut just a month after making his ODI debut for Pakistan.
Sachin Tendulkar didn’t have a great outing in his debut Test as the right-hander could only score 15 runs off 24 balls in his maiden Test innings for India. His wicket was taken by none other than another debutant in that game, Waqar Younis. The right-arm pacer on the other hand had a memorable Test debut as he scalped four wickets in his maiden Test innings.
