On Wednesday, July 17, Real Madrid announced that a court in Spain has found a person guilty of “serious racial attacks and insults” against Vinicius Jr and Antonio Rudiger online. The Spanish court has ordered the accused to serve eight months in prison for two offences of harming the moral integrity of both the players, who are Black while acting in contempt of Antonio Rudiger’s Islamic religion.
Notably, the racial abuse happened on the digital forum of the official website of the Marca newspaper, which a fan brought to the attention of the authorities and Real Madrid. Apart from serving eight months in prison, the racist man won’t be able to participate in the digital forum of Marca for 20 months.
Racial abuser gets 8 months in prison for attacking Vini Jr and Rudiger
The statement about the matter from Real Madrid read, “The accused was found guilty of two offences against moral integrity committed against Vinicius Junior and Antonio Rüdiger, both aggravated by the fact that they acted with racist motives and, in the case of Antonio Rüdiger, also in contempt of his religion.”
Furthermore, the Galacticos revealed that “the suspended prison sentence was made conditional on the defendant's participation in an equal treatment and non-discrimination programme”
Real Madrid also alluded to the fact that this is the second criminal conviction for the racial abuse received by the club players just a month after the three Valencia fans were handed an eight-month prison for pleading guilty to attacking Vinicus Jr. They wrote, “This is the second criminal conviction for the racist insults received by Real Madrid players, which in this case and for the first time, has sanctioned the intolerable attacks of this nature that also occur on digital forums and social networks.”
