The inaugural edition of Cricket South Africa’s T20 League, SA20 is all set to commence in January next year. The auction for the first-ever edition took place on Monday (19 September). All six franchises Joburg Super Kings, Pretoria Capitals, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, MI Cape Town, Paarl Royals, and Durban’s Super Giants took part in the player bidding process.

Paarl Royals, owned by team owners of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals, started their auction with a purse amount of 20.74 million ZAR. They were the first team to make a purchase at the SA20 auction as they got Lungi Ngidi for 3.40 million ZAR. Notably, before coming into the auction, Paarl Royals had announced the signings of Jos Buttler, David Miller, Obed McCoy, and Corbin Bosch.
