The Indian Premier League 2024 retentions created a lot of buzz thanks to a historic trade involving Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya, who returned to the Mumbai Indians in an all-cash deal. The deal also saw Mumbai Indians' most expensive player, Cameron Green, join the Royal Challengers Bangalore in a similar trade.

These transfers created a stir among fans on social media as it seemed nearly improbable days before the retention list announcement. But as things unravelled and the deals were confirmed cricket fans were left in shock and surprise. Though there was a lot of adoration towards Pandya for his return, countless criticised the Indian all-rounder for leaving a promising project in Gujarat and following money by joining Mumbai.
