For the unversed, Pakistan captain Babar Azam had won the toss and chose to bat first against Nepal in the Asia Cup 2023 opener at home. They had a tough start in the powerplay, in which they lost both openers Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq in quick succession.

Babar Azam resurrected the innings for the home team, stitching together a 86 run stand with Mohammad Rizwan for the third wicket. Then, he and Iftikhar Ahmed had an incredible partnership of 214, both scoring their respective centuries to help Pakistan put a massive 342/5 run total on the board.

While defending the big score at the Multan Cricket Stadium, the fast bowling pair of Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah picked up early wickets for the Men in Green against Nepal. The finishing touches to their bowling effort was put up by Shadab Khan, the leg spin bowler, who demolished the tail of the opposition easily.
