The Pakistan cricket team is likely to embark on a tour to Bangladesh to play white-ball series in the middle of the ongoing year 2025. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President, Faruque Ahmed, stated that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have told them about their intention of touring their country outside of the current ICC Future Tours Programme (FTP), to play ODI and T20I series sometime this July and August.

Notably, as part of the FTP, Bangladesh are already slated to be on the tour to Pakistan to play a three-match ODI and a three-match T20I series this May. According to the report published in Cricbuzz, the BCB President Faruque Ahmed spoke with his PCB counterpart Mohsin Naqvi, where they discussed the possibility of an ODI and T20I series in mid-2025 between Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Bangladesh wants to be part of Pakistan tri-series in future

On Saturday, March 8, Faruque Ahmed gave some details regarding the potential Bangladesh versus Pakistan white-ball series this summer. He was quoted as saying, as per Cricbuzz, “The PCB told us that they would tour Bangladesh outside of the FTP. There might be a short tour in July, which we have mostly confirmed. We will inform you when we finalise it. I have also spoken about Bangladesh being part of a [Pakistan] tri-series in the future, wherever it is, if it is held at a suitable time for us.”

Moreover, the BCB President also discussed the build-up to the ODI World Cup 2027 for the Bangladesh cricket team after their group stage exit from the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025, which led to Mushfiqur Rahim’s retirement from the format. He remarked, “The board will give its policy [for 2027]. I think someone like Najmul Abedin Faheem [head of the BCB's men's cricket operations committee] is an experienced individual to take care of the operations committee. We will discuss how to take cricket forward.”
