The Papua New Guinea is the latest team to announce their squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, set to be played in June in West Indies and the United States of America (USA). The Barramundis will be led by Assad Vala, who also featured in the 2021 edition alongside nine others.

Moreover, the 2021 reserve member Jack Gardner also finds a place in the 15-member squad for the marquee event with leg-spinner all-rounder CJ Amini shouldering the deputy roles. Speaking after the squad announcement, Assad Vala said, “The energy has been great withing the team. For some of the boys who went to the last T20 World Cup, it’s a different feeling now with a lot of the training because the last time was during COVID, and the preparation wasn’t good as what we’re going through now.”

The Barramundis are placed in Group C for the T20 World Cup 2024, alongside co-hosts West Indies, New Zealand, Afghanistan, and Uganda. Speaking of the side, the Papua New Guinea will begin their campaign with two-time champions West Indies on June 2 before meeting Uganda on June 5. They will then face Rashid Khan-led Afghanistan on June 13.
