Three Indian shuttlers in Sukant Kadam, Tarun and Suhas on Sunday, May 19 confirmed their qualification for the 2024 Paris Paralympics, set to be held from August 28 to September 8. The Indian trio of Kadam, Tarun and Suhas have earned a qualification in the men’s SL4 category with Sukant Kadam making his Paralympics debut.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Sukant Kadam said, “Excited to share that I’ve officially qualified for the Paris Paralympics.”
It is to be noted that the SL4 classification includes athletes with minor impairments affecting movement on one side of the body, in both legs, or those with a minor limb deficiency.
Coming back to the 2024 Paris Paralympics qualification, the Indian contingent will further be strengthened by the likes of Mandeep Kaur, who will compete in the SL3 women’s category. Nithya and Sivarajan whereas will compete in the mixed doubles SL6 category for the quadrennial games.
Ravi Rongali secures 2024 Paris Paralympics quota in men’s shotput F40
Khelo India para-athlete Ravi Rongali also secured the 2024 Paris Paralympics quota for India in the men’s shotput F40 with a throw of 9.75m. With his record throw, Ravi finished at sixth placed and with it earned the Paris qualification at the Kobe Para World Athletics World Championship 2024.
