After a successful Paris Olympics 2024, the action will now shift to the upcoming Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, which are scheduled to be held in the French capital from August 28 till September 8. For the Summer Paralympic Games, India has sent its largest ever contingent of 84 athletes, who will participate across 12 sporting disciplines out of the 22 in the para games.
Notably, India’s para-athletes have won a record 19 medals at the Tokyo Paralympics and enter this edition after bagging a historic 111 medal at the 2023 Para Asian Games. Moreover, four Indian para-athletes head to the Paris Games as reigning champions, namely, Sumit Antil (men’s javelin throw F64), Krishna Nagar (men’s badminton singles SH6), Manish Narwal (men’s shooting 50m pistol SH1) and Avani Lkhara (women’s 10m air rifle shooting standing SH1).
