Archery, which has been a part of the Olympics roster since long now, will be in action from July 25 onwards at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The archery events will run until August 4 at the Les Invalides, which was built in the 1960s for military purpose, but is now a museum housing tomb of Napoleon.

The archery events will take place from July 25 till August 4, 2024 at the Les Invalides during the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Games will have three medal events - men’s women’s individual and mixed team. Moreover, the medal matches will begin from August 2 with the mixed team event, followed by a medal match of the women’s event on August 3 and a men’s event medal match on August 4.
What is the format in archery and how does scoring works?
Archers shoot a target of 70m - the length of three tennis courts, at a 122cm round target which is divided into 10 coloured scoring rings. The highest scoring ring is the one in the centre, which is the size of a DVD. If the arrow lands on the line dividing the two rings, the ring with higher value is considered.
Moreover, withing the 10 rings is a smaller circle called X, which only comes into play in the event of a tiebreak in the ranking round. Notably, in archery, the arrow travels at the speed of up to 140mph.
The competition of archery include individual as well as team events for each gender as well as a mixed event. All matches start with a ranking round to determine seedings for the knockout stage.
