On Friday, August 2, Balraj Panwar, the sole Indian competitor in the men’s rowing sculls event at the Paris Olympics 2024, finished his campaign in fifth place in the Final D race. At the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium, the Indian Army man clocked a timing of 7:02:37, which was a decent performance from him in difficult conditions.
As per the report from the Bridge, Balraj Panwar began rowing only three years ago after joining the Indian Army, making great progress in the sport in such a short time. He had become a part of the Indian Army in the year 2018 shortly after losing his father at a young age.
Notably, a couple of days ago, Balraj Panwar had finished in sixth place in the sem-final C/D race of the men’s singles sculls event with a timing of 7:04:97. After completing his Paris 2024 campaign with the Final D sculls race, he got ranked 23rd overall in the final placement.
Balraj Panwar had made his way to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after securing a quota during the Asian and Oceanian Rowing Olympic Qualification Regatta in Chungju, South Korea. He won the bronze medal in the men’s singles sculls event at the Olympic Qualification tournament to book his trip to Paris.
