Indian shooters Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Maheshwari Chauhan finished fourth in the s keet mixed team qualification event at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Monday and qualified for the bronze medal match against China. Competing at the Chateauroux, both Indians had disappointing results in their individual events and failed to reach the final.

But India had a promising start in the mixed event with Anantjeet Singh Naruka scoring a perfect 25/25 start in the first round. Meanwhile, Maheshwari Chauhan registered scores of 24/25 to take India’s total to 49. This result placed the Indian duo joint-second with Australia, France, the Republic of Korea and both Italian teams.

Round 2 saw a slight drop off from Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Maheshwari Chauhan as they scored 23/25 and 25/25, respectively.  India registered a score of 97 after two rounds of the skeet mixed team qualification shooting event and was placed seventh.

In the third round, the Indian pair saw Naruka score 24/25 while  Chauhan scored 25/25 to take the combined total to 144 after three rounds. This result was enough to qualify for the bronze medal match as they finished fourth behind China, who also registered a score of 144.

Looking back at their individual campaigns in Paris,  Anantjeet Singh Naruka bowed out after a disappointing two days of qualification in the men’s skeet event as he finished in  24th place and failed to qualify for the final. On the other hand,  Maheshwari Chauhan finished 14th in the women’s skeet event.
