After India registered their best-ever performance at the Olympic Games at the Tokyo 2020, the action now shifts to the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics. The upcoming quadrennial Games will be played in the French capital, Paris from July 26 and August 11. The Summer Games will see a total of 206 countries participate across 32 disciplines of sports across the 15-day tournament.
As the days come closer, more than 10,000 athletes from across the world will take the centre stage to fight for the gold medal. Moreover, India, who finished at 37th place at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, will aim to better their tally and breach the double-digit mark. Thus far in India’s history at Olympics, they have clinched only 10 gold medal finishes. While eight of those 10 have come from hockey, two have been individual performances. At the Beijing 2008 Olympics, Abhinav Bindra claimed India’s first-ever individual gold, followed by Neeraj Chopra’s gold medal triumph in the last edition.
