The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games came to a close on Sunday. It was for various reasons a game like no other and did not have even fans or family cheering for the athletes in the stadium. Many athletes have already set their sights for the next Olympic Games which are little over a 1000 days away. While it generally is a quadrennial event, the Tokyo games were pushed back by a year due to Coronavirus pandemic which means the gap between and Tokyo and the subsequent Olympics is now around 3 years.

Meanwhile, during the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games at Tokyo 2020, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo received an Olympic flag in the Tokyo Stadium on Sunday, which is marked as a traditional pass to the next city. However, the celebration had a few twists to how the handover usually takes place.
The French national anthem was played by the National Orchestra of France and then, a live broadcast took viewers straight into the handover celebration in the streets of Paris where the Paris 2024 Olympic flag was unfurled from the Eiffel Tower. Moreover, the Patrouille Acrobatique de France flew over and displayed the country's flag in the sky to mark the handover of the Olympic games.
Subsequently, French President Emmanuel Macron also uttered the updated Olympic motto: "Faster, Higher, Stronger. Together." There were also French Olympic athletes who had returned from Tokyo.
The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games are being advertised as the biggest event ever organised in France. The world can't wait to see what Paris has in store after a rather successful show at Tokyo 2020.
